Amsterdam Travel Guide

Being a student is not an easy thing to do on a daily basis, as juggling classes and relaxation is no easy task. But it's important to take some time for yourself so that you don't get overwhelmed by all the work that student life requires.

This year, 2022, I had set a goal of going on a trip every 2 or 3 months to clear my head. It didn't have to be very far from home, but it allowed me to see other horizons.

My first destination was Amsterdam. I went there with a friend and I literally fell in love with this city.

There are so many activities to do and beautiful places to see. Whether you are a fashion addict, a restaurant lover or a culture buff, I can assure you that you will find something that suits you.

Here’s are some ideas to make the most out of a short stay in Amsterdam ;)

Where to stay

During our stay, we stayed at the Motel One Amsterdam, located at Europaboulevard 23, 1079 PC Amsterdam .

Motel One is a hotel company with several hotels all over Europe and the United States with the advantage of offering rooms at very attractive prices.

As a student, traveling means going on a budget, so it's always necessary to find accommodations that are attractively priced yet modern and convenient. Motel One ticks all the boxes, the rooms are cosy, the breakfast is varied and the reception is available 24/7.

The strong point of this hotel in my opinion is that it is close to public transport (3 min walk from the train station) so no need to get an Uber during your stay!

Where to eat

Being a real foodie, the first thing I do when I prepare my trip is to make a list of restaurants found on social medias or on the internet to make sure I eat well during my trip.

I made a list of restaurants that we went to and that I highly recommend.

Mama Kelly Restaurant : This pink paradise will offer you the keys to a perfect evening with friends or lovers.

Ten Marsh And Co Amsterdam : Ideal for a brunch, you will find the best burger Benelux 2021 as well as delicious, refreshing and exotic cocktails.

Fiona : Let yourself be carried away by the excellent Mexican cuisine of the restaurant Fiona, I can assure you that your taste buds will thank you !

Lolo restaurant : Whether you’re in the mood for a good Italian dinner or eccentric cocktails, Lolo restaurant will be there to serve you.

What to do

It’s essential to have a list of things to do to make sure you don’t miss anything interesting while you are there.

Here are the must-do’s if you are in Amsterdam.

Moco Museum : if you are a lover of modern and contemporary art, I highly recommend the Moco museum. You will find original works by artists such as Banksy or The Kid as well as the work of rising stars.

The Van Gogh Museum : Is a must- see when visiting Amsterdam. Here you will discover the magnificent works of the Dutch painter and learn a little more about this artist with well-kept secrets.

Let yourself be carried away in the disco universe of the 80’s and enjoy the atmosphere and the good music that the Roller Dreams pop-up experience offers. It’s the perfect place to end the night in style.

Enjoy the beautiful view of Amsterdam while sipping your cocktail in a chic and relaxed vibe at the Cielo Sky bar Amsterdam.
